Matthew Matt James is a North Carolina native born on 5 December 1991. James is the father of Manny and Patty James and is of mixed race. The father of Manny James is Nigerian while his mother is caucasian American. He graduated in the year 2010 at Sanderson High School. In 2015, he earned his Bachelor of Economics from Wake Forest University. James became famous when he appeared on The Bachelorette as a reality television star. James was chosen in 2020 to be the next bachelor in The Bachelor season 25, being the show's first African American male star. The show premiered later in the year. James's height, looks and sense of humor made him a good fit for the role. Rachael Krakconnell, whom James chose as his girlfriend to date for the rest of the season. In the season 30 (in 2021) of Dancing with the Stars, it was a dance with Arnold. James as well as Arnold placed 12th.
